No matter what fancy and expensive treatments you do to your skin, they won’t be of any use if you don’t use sunscreen. After being scolded by my dermatologist and aesthetician multiple times, I finally understood the importance of sunscreen. Hence, whether it’s pouring or it’s sunny, I always make sure to have sunscreen on. However, I couldn’t help but wonder, is it necessary to wear sunscreen even when you’re indoors? I did a little research and turns out wearing sunscreen indoors is just as important as it is wearing outdoors; here’s why:
1. UVA Rays Can Still Cause Harm
A standard window can prevent UVB rays from entering. However, it cannot prevent UVA rays from entering your living space. You should worry about UVA rays because it can break down collagen faster and cause skin damage. So even if you are indoors, make sure you apply sunscreen every day.
2. Blue Light Exposure
You may think that since you aren’t directly exposed the sun, that’s why you don’t have to wear sunscreen; however, I hate to break it to you, but blue light from screens can also cause damage not only to your eyes but also your skin. So even though you’re staying indoors, if you use a lot of electronic gadgets, you are putting your skin through a lot of blue-light exposure which can cause damage. So slather on some sunscreen.
3. Reapplication Is Just As Important
When you sweat, the layer of sunscreen breaks down. That’s why the reapplication of sunscreen every two hours is of vital importance. So the next time you sit down in front of a laptop to start with your studies or work, keep a bottle of sunscreen next to you so that you remember to reapply it every two hours.
