We may all be in our homes right now, practising self-distancing and taking a break from work owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. But, not everyone may have the luxury to do that. People like daily-wage workers have it tough at such times, and it is something that is important to consider. While the production work on all films has been halted, for the time being, the Production Guild Of India has taken a step to make sure their workers are not affected.
The association put out an official statement stating that they’re going to set up a relief fund to help daily wage workers who will not be able to make their daily salaries because of the complete lockdown on the production of films, television and OTT content. Sidharth Roy Kapur, president of the association, urges everyone in the fraternity to do their bit and contribute to the fund in order to not let this affect the workers’ livelihoods.

This was shared by producers like Ritesh Sidhwani, who welcomes this initiative with open arms and was lauded by many in the industry. Actress and producer Anushka Sharma also shared the news on her social media, encouraging their efforts and highlighting the importance of the matter.
We sure do think this is a very thoughtful move and wish for everyone to be safe and comfortable during these trying times.
