If there’s one thing right now that’s on everybody’s minds right now; it’s without a doubt the panic regarding Covid-19. From Whatsapp forwards to my Instagram feed, all people seem to be talking about is this pandemic. This infamous disease that first originated in the Wuhan province of China has now almost taken all over the world, and it’s very easy to panic right now. However, we’re all in this together, and we can do our bit by self-isolation and taking care of our own health. While no one food can protect you from getting ill single-handedly, here are a few immunity-boosting foods you can much on to improve your health:
1. Garlic
Garlic is known to prevent and help treat symptoms of the common cold and flu. It contains compounds which strengthen your immune system. These compounds help the white blood cells in your body help fight diseases. So the next time you cook, chop some up a few extra cloves of garlic and it to your meal.
2. Almonds
There’s a reason why your mom and grandmom forced those almonds down your throat. Almonds are high in iron and protein, which help improve your overall health. It also contains vitamin E, which acts an antioxidant which helps your immune system work better.
3. Red Bell Peppers
This immunity-boosting food contains more vitamin C than any citrus fruit. It also contains beta-carotene. Hence, red bell peppers are not only good for your immunity, but they’re also good your skin.
4. Dark Leafy Greens
Dark leafy greens are packed with nutrients. They contain fibre, calcium and vitamin C and K. That’s why they are essential immunity-boosting foods which you should include in your diet.
5. Mushrooms
Mushrooms are not only delicious, but they’re also super healthy. They contain vitamin B and D and other essential amino acids that help boost your immune system.
