Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2020 has wrapped up but what stayed with me were the cool trends I took note of. And now that winter has finally decided to bid us adieu (at least for us Mumbai peeps), I’m very excited to experiment with different summer styles. I did my research and spotted nine amazing trends on the runway this season, and I’m sure most of us have existing elements in our wardrobe to pull it off. So, here they are:
1. Crochet
If there’s any type of knitwear you can adopt in summer, it’s crochet. Opt to wear it over your tops or make accessories using the technique. It will certainly look cute and add a boho vibe to your look.
2. Halter Neck
I guess it’s time to ditch your off-shoulders and tube tops and get back to halter necklines if you want to up the ante with your style this summer.
3. Summer Sarees
Lightweight sarees make an entry on the runway and should also find their way into your closets. Cotton, linen and organza sarees add a feminine touch.
4. Maxis
Maxi dresses are my personal favourites due to several reasons. One, I love to twirl in them and two, I love anything that is free-flowing and away from my body during humidity. Do you relate to this feeling too?
5. Jumpsuits
This time, LFW gave us a lot of jumpsuit trends to take inspiration from. Take note of the variations of this comfy silhouette. You can rock jumpsuits for all occasions, making it a very versatile trend.
6. Power Shoulders
Go bold with power shoulders this season. Walk into a room with this strong look and show everyone who’s the boss! You’ll be surprised how confident this trend makes you feel.
7. Cross Body Slings
Bored of fanny packs? Then don’t worry because now you can go back to carrying your sling bags across your body. They look super cool, and you can pair them with Indian as well as western silhouettes.
8. Co-ords
Co-ord sets have been in trend for a while now, and they’re not going anywhere this season either. This time, they have made their way into the Indianwear too. Would you wear it to the next wedding you attend?
9. Tassel Details
This one is quite interesting, and I mostly saw it on various accessories. Rather than outfits, tassels were added as decorating details on sneakers and bags. I can’t get over the long tassel earrings showcased at the Ritu Kumar x EcoVero show. They’re so pretty and if I can’t afford them, I know I can make them on my own for sure and so can you!
Which trend are you going to rock this summer? Let me know in the comments below.
