Jitendra Kumar Ayushmann Khurrana have been the talk of the town ever since the trailer of their upcoming film, Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhaan, dropped. The film deals with a homosexual couple, and their struggles in making their families understand their love for each other and de-stigmatise homosexuality. In mainstream Hindi cinema, it is not always that we see homosexuality being depicted in a realistic and honest manner, and we are so glad this film, directed by Hitesh Kewalya, is set out to do just that.
Just last week, the makers dropped the music video of their song Gabru. We saw Ayushmann kill it with his dance moves and take on Jitendra’s father in the film (played by Gajraj Rao) in a dance war. But the highlight of the song was when the shy Jitendra is fed up with the hiding around and kisses Ayushmann in front of everybody. For any mainstream Bollywood film to show this is a huge feat in itself and for an established actor like Ayushmann to do it is great.
In a conversation with Mumbai Mirror, Jitendra spoke about doing the kissing scene with Ayushmann and mentions that it was easy to work with Ayushmann and that he was comfortable around him which made it much easier. He also spoke about how he chose to be a part of the film right after he read the narration and adds that Ayushmann, in fact, was rooting for him to be a part of the project.
Now, this has just gotten us more excited for the film! Co-starring Gajraj Rao, Neena Gupta and Maanvi Gagroo among others, the film is all set to release on the 21st of February.
