Acapella always has such a way of bringing us all together, humming along to some happy beats, no? In a world where we are exposed to both Indian and Western music, I am a fan of an acapella group like Penn Masala who create fusion music and bring both these worlds together. One of the first all guys, South Asian acapella groups founded in Pennsylvania, they have performed for celebrities like Barack Obama and Mukesh Ambani and shared the stage with the likes of A.R.Rahman. Hell, they even featured in the Hollywood film, Pitch Perfect 2! The group is now all set to drop their 11th and latest album, Musafir!
Through Musafir, we are sure they are set out to bring some feet-tapping music to us. But they also wish to focus on addressing meaningful concerns like mental health through their songs. They share that through their mashups and compositions, they intend to draw attention to their South Asian identity, culture and their growth as a band through all these years and we are excited to see it all unfold!
They just released a super fun music video of Cake By The Ocean, Ghungroo and Stronger, ahead of their album release and we are already playing it on loop, guys!
What fun, right? Loved how they chose such diverse songs and still made it sound so good together. Not just us, but even Hrithik Roshan gave the boys a shoutout.
