Shah Rukh Khan might be on a self-imposed hiatus from the movies ever since his 2018 film Zero didn’t do the numbers. But that hasn’t stopped news about him signing his next from doing the rounds. Earlier there were reports of him signing a film with Tamil director Atlee and later on with Malayalam director Ashiq Abu. But more recently there have been reports of him being in talks with Stree writers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK for a film. The directors finally confirmed the news in an interview with Rajeev Masand. They made it clear that they are very much in talks with King Khan and the actor really liked the script.
Talking in detail about their meeting with SRK, they said:
We have narrated a story few months ago, and Shah Rukh loved it. We are in talks. He wants to do it and he said that we’ll do it. The news is not out officially but it leaked a couple of times. So I think I can talk a little bit about it. Because until now, we have kept mum. It’s not like Shah Rukh said ‘Don’t tell a word’.
They further added that SRK loved it as soon as they told him the story.
Detailing on what Shah Rukh told them Raj revealed:
He did say one nice thing that ‘your script is great and it’s important to keep the script intact. So whatever happens in the journey, make sure that the script is whatever you guys wanted it to be. Make the film that it should be. Don’t be bogged down by the actor in it or the staff in it and stuff like that.’ It was his way of saying that even if I offer a suggestion, don’t feel compelled to take it.
They also said that it’s usually in the second meeting that actors suggest changes to their script but Raj and DK revealed that even after many meetings SRK is strongly into it. Raj and DK are known for their quirky sense of film making. To add to their list of accomplishments, they’re also currently working on a web show called Citadel backed by Avengers makers the Russo brothers.
We hope their film with SRK comes to fruition.
