I have always harboured a keen interest in observing new styles and guessing what’s going to be in trend for upcoming seasons. It’s just one of my hobbies and it becomes a guessing game I play with myself. Being a self-confessed style addict, I’m always searching for new trends to experiment with, so while last year was all about power dressing in pantsuits and blazers, rocking mini bags and wearing jewelled hair slides, 2020 has something different in-store, it seems. January isn’t even over yet, but I have already saved a few looks in my #StyleInspo folder because so many celebrities have caught my attention with some of their looks.
Here are 7 trends I think will be huge in 2020.
1. Butterscotch Yellow
Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday and more have been spotted in this soothing yellow hue off late and this colour can certainly be a trend this coming season.
2. Monochrome Sarees
Lately, I’ve observed our Bollywood divas opt for single toned sarees in pastel shades with a hint of shimmer and shine. And TBH, it looks super classy! Think of it this way: with this one move you can channel your grace, while also adding a little “party” to your look. And as Fergie says, “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody!”
3. Highlighter Hues
Neon colours have always been in trend, but lately, many celebrities are wearing it for award functions and movie promotions. Highlighter hues, especially the green one seems to be making a huge comeback. I’m a gal who loves neutrals, but I might just try to up the ante with a pop of colour!
4. Innerwear As Outerwear
Take your Spring/Summer wardrobe to a whole new level by opting for bra tops under blazers and corsets over white shirts. Innerwear as outerwear was a huge trend last year but I guess it’s here to stay in 2020 too.
5. Classic Blue
Pantone decalared Classic Blue to be the colour of the year for 2020 and I can’t wait to see brands come out with a whole new collection in this colour palette.
6. Half & Half
Go bold and experimental this year by wearing dual-toned jackets, dresses and tops. Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Alia Bhatt and Cardi B have done it, and so can you!
7. Maxi Skirts
Unpopular opinion: Maxi skirts are versatile AF. The beauty of a knife-pleated maxi skirt is that you can style it for a casual brunch, a formal event or even for a dinner date and still look so chic. Personally, I love pairing it with ankle-length boots or sneakers.
I hope some of my fashion predictions come true and these trends actually become a hit in 2020. What do you think of them? Let me know in the comments below!
