Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Saif Ali Khan starrer Tanhaji: The Unsung Hero is gearing up for release. The Om Raut directorial has been in news for a while now and the trailer has garnered raving reviews so much that the masses can’t wait to witness this one. In midst of all the chatter, fans can’t stop going gaga over Saif’s portrayal of Udaybhan Rathod. He is a perfect larger than life antagonist of this Ajay starrer.
Ask Saif if he instantly grabbed the film when he was approached for it and he says,
I’m always excited to work with new directors but it’s slightly risky. They could either be new and change the game or they could be versions of what is already passed and therefore not that exciting. So, the trick with the first few meetings is to figure out how we’re going to gel and some kind of mental rehearsal of how you’ll get along. What the offer is? I mean it’s about Tanhaji. Where do I fit in? I said you know, I’m in good space mentally and I’ll do the villain role and they explained, like in some of these films you understand the template of some of these films – they need the film to be larger than life in order for it to work.
He added that Udaybhan’s character brings glamour to this magnum opus.
He actually does bring in the glamour because Tanhaji is a historical figure and he represents the pride of the Marathas. So, we had to be very careful about the treatment of that. So, this character was, either way, going to be fun. The character had energy on paper. But, I was sceptical about a lot of things because Om kept on talking about CG and I am a bit conservative about the new technology. I keep feeling it won’t work properly. To add to that, sometimes our CG isn’t good. But these guys focused on the 3D and the CG and they’ve really pulled off a spectacle.
Ask him about his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan’s reaction to the trailer and he adds,
She really hasn’t seen anything and I think she’s really looking forward to seeing the movie. Right now, I think she’s just happy with the response Good Newwz is getting and is busy shopping. Yeah but she’s seen the trailer of Jawaani Jaaneman and it works for her. She says it’s really nice.
We are looking forward to Tanhaji, what about you?
