Deepika Padukone has been one busy lady with hectic promotional schedules for her upcoming film, Chhapaak. She was recently in the capital city, Delhi, where she met and interacted with a few acid attack survivors. The actress and husband Ranveer Singh even celebrated her birthday with them. As we speak of Delhi, we are all aware of the situation in the city and how students, teachers and citizens have come out to protest against the violent attack that took place in the campus on Sunday night.
So of course, while interacting with the media, Deepika was asked about her stance on the issue. And DP spoke up about it saying she is glad people aren’t scared to express themselves.
She said:
People are voicing their opinion whether on streets or from their homes and so if we want to see a change in our society, we must keep all points of view on the table.
Now, while in Delhi, Deepika visited the JNU campus and attended a rally to lend her support to the protest. She was there for a very brief time and pictures of hers are doing the rounds on the internet.
Have a look:
But right after, Twitter was abuzz with two sets of people discussing her actions. One set bombarded Twitter with #BoycottChhapaak while the other half said #ISupportDeepika.
Not only Deepika, but a lot of other Bollywood celebrities have come out to speak up against the atrocities at JNU and were part of peaceful protests in Mumbai. Taapsee Pannu, Richa Chadha, Ali Fazal, Zoya Akhtar, Dia Mirza, Anurag Kashyap, Mallika Dua and Amyra Dastur were among the many present at a rally in Carter Road on Monday.
