Hair—one of my first ever beauty obsessions and something I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with. Having curly, frizzy and baby-hair filled mane since I was little is something I’ve always felt conscious of ever since school. And through the years of trial and error, treatments and products (that I won’t bore you with right now), I’ve come to love my weirdly textured curls and frizz. Most days I wear my hair au natural, but every once in a while I can’t resist a good blow-dry!
But this isn’t a love story about how a blow-dry makes me feel, it’s how I maintained a blow-out from last Thursday, right until Sunday. A good 4 days, 2 weddings and 6 functions in total… Shocking right? Well, with these few tips, tricks and products, you can pull off the same too!
Day 1: Blow-dry Day
Before the mayhem started and sparkled filled outfits came on, there was need of a good wash, massage and blow-dry. I headed to Samathan’s Salon in Bandra and within an hour I was out of there! For the style of my blow-out, I instructed the stylist to give me a voluminous one that would last me 2 days (not knowing that I would get way too lazy to wash it at the end of the second day) and then wrap into a bun with a claw clip which I would then remove right before I headed out that night.
Key Product: This Wella spray kept my hair looking voluminous and feeling super soft.
Day 2: Round 2
On the second day, I kept my hair tied and away from my faces as much as possible. Because nothing ruins a good hair day like sweaty fingers and constant contact. Using a soft mulberry silk scrunchie, I gathered my hair into a low ponytail to only open it up by the evening.
Key Product: Dame Essentials’ silk scrunchies.
Day 3: Survival Mode
Catching flights, as well as frizz for another wedding in Kerala, was not ideal, but I had to make it work. Day 3 for me was all about maintenance. My flight hair usually consists of a claw clip attached to a very high bun—and the reason being, a need to maintain the volume on the third day.
Key Product: A non-sticky, anti-frizz butter-like cream from Alterna.
Day 4: The Last Leg
With the wedding occasion count at 4, the last day had 2 more functions that needed attendance and a good enough bridal-party appearance. The Dyson Airwrap set has always been a lifesaver. It’s quick to do, light to carry and functionality-wise can create a few different looks. So using the smoothening brush, followed by the 13′ inch curler barrels, I made my hair go from dull and drab to alive and kicking!
Key Product: The Dyson Airwrap set of 6, from which I took the brush and the barrels.
