‘Tis the season! The season of giving, gifting and cheer is finally here. My favourite part about this time of the year is the gifts that we get—whether it is from your parents, friends or office secret Santa buddy. While a bad gift can leave a lasting impact on your mind (I mean, thanks but no thanks for the ugly coffee mug), a good one can be remembered forever and ever. Hence, I asked a couple of people to share the most memorable gifts they’ve ever received and here we go:
1. Malini Agarwal
I got a foot massager from my friends which is an epic gift since I’m always on my feet. My brother-in-law got me a karaoke machine that is literally the gift that keeps on giving!
2. Pooja Maheshwary
The most unusual gift I recieved, which makes it very memorable, is a beanbag. Perfect for the lazy girl in me.
3. Eesha Kokane
On my 21st birthday, my mom got me a beautiful buttercream sponge cake along with 21 buttercream cupcakes (the icing was done in a way that resembled purple flowers). It was the yummiest cake I’ve ever tasted, and I loved the fact that my mom went through the trouble of customising the cake for me.
4. Aishwarya Marimuthu
For my birthday, my boyfriend got me a gift basket full of the items I had been casually mentioning throughout the year. It included food, a giraffe from Hamley‘s because of an inside joke, a book I had checked out but hadn’t bought… The most thoughtful gift I ever had honestly!
5. Mrinal Bhat
The best gift I ever got is a really fun and memorable trip to Italy that was full of experiences. We went to Rome, Venice, Florence, Amalfi coast & Milan and each city had one unique experience to cover. From gondola rides to wine tasting, we covered it all.
6. Dhruvi Modi
For my 20th birthday, my best friend and roommate from college decided to throw me the biggest surprise party ever (I’m talking practically the entirety of my university was there!). It was a huge event, and how she managed to keep it a secret from me (we lived together!) is something I still cannot decipher. It is my favourite birthday so far, and I genuinely love how she went through so much trouble and crazy efforts to make my day so special. I miss her so much!
7. Suruchi Patwary
My boyfriend gave me 10 de-stress coupons on my birthday that I could redeem anytime and in exchange he’d give me a foot massage, head massage, breakfast in bed, movie-date night, etc.
8. Karishma Govil
Actually my closest friends sent me a box of gifts that included a book that was customised for my husband and I as a couple. Like a story of how it all happened for us. With pictures and a write up that literally summed up our entire relationship. And that’s THE most memorable gift I’ve ever received.
9. Shravan Shah
A close friend of mine gifted me a caricature of myself and honestly, it meant so much to me. He incorporated all of my favourite quotes and small things that define me as a person. Whenever someone asks me about myself, I show them a picture of this caricature and it speaks for itself!
