Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar came to the rescue of two stuntmen Bittoo and Hari Singh who were injured while rehearsing for the song launch of Chandigarh Mein from Good Newwz. Akshay called for an air ambulance to transport both the men to Mumbai with the help of producer Karan Johar.According to a report in Mid Day, Bittoo and Hari Singh work with senior action director Sham Kaushal (Vicky Kaushal’s father).
Speaking about the accident Sham Kaushal said:
I sent three members of my team for the rehearsal. It was important to check if the wire work was smooth and performing the stunt was a safe proposition. As part of the stunt, Bittoo and Hari Singh were attached to the winch machine and were performing stunts mid-air. But during the second round of rehearsals, the machine collapsed due to a technical malfunction and the boys had a freefall from a height of nearly 10-12 feet.
He further added that both the men were advised two months of bed rest.
While Akshay was not present at the scene of the accident, he made sure both of them got the required treatment at the time.
In 2017, Akshay had launched an insurance scheme directed at stuntmen who put their life at risk way too often. As per the policy, in case of hospitalization due to physical injury while doing stunts, a person will be covered for Rs. 6 lakhs at about 4000 hospitals. And in case of death, there’s a provision of Rs. 10 lakhs to the person’s nominee.
Akshay is all set for his upcoming release Good Newwz alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani on 27th December 2019.
