Recently, we shared the news of Shahid Kapoor‘s next film, Jersey. The actor took to his social media to share a glimpse of him starting preparations for the role. Jersey is a remake of a Telegu film of the same name and is set to play a cricketer in his late thirties in the film. Now, they just announced that Mrunal Thakur joined the team as the female lead in the film.
According to an IANS report, the actress herself shared the news of her addition to the cast and was super excited to be a part of it.
She said:
I’m super excited to play the lead opposite Shahid in Jersey. When I saw the original film I was bowled over by its passionate emotional journey. It felt like I had lived a full lifetime of experiences in those two-plus hours. So deep was the affect of the film on me that I couldn’t get it out of my heart the whole night. I can’t wait for Hindi audiences to experience a similar impact!
The Telegu film starred Shraddha Srinath and Nani. Mrunal’s character will be the anchor for Shahid’s character in the film as he goes on an emotionally intense journey of playing for his country at an age where most people in the sport retire.
Previously, Rashmika Mandana was supposed to be a part of the film. Now, the Super 30 actress, Mrunal is all ready and pumped to jump into this role. We sure do look forward to seeing her alongside Shahid for the first time.
The film is being directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who also directed the original film, and is all set to release in August 2020.
