I think we can all agree on one thing, “Just one more episode, then it’s bedtime” is the biggest lie we’ve all ever told ourselves. Every time I told myself this lie, I woke up with my under eyes one shade darker than they were before, and they were also as puffy as a cloud. Of course, the simplest solution would be to go to bed earlier and get a solid 8 hours of sleep. However, thanks to Netflix, Instagram and basically the internet, our precious resting time is compromised. So is there even a solution to fixing those puffy eyes? Yes, there is! Fortunately for you, after a lot of research and trial and error methods later, I can conclude that you can get rid of your puffy under eyes with these quick and easy tricks:
1. Cold Spoons
Until I tried it out, this method sounded like total BS to me! What you need to do is place two spoons in the fridge overnight (or in the freezer for a few minutes) and place the cold spoons on the puffy areas of your under eyes. The cold feel of the metal will soothe your eyes and de-puff them in a few minutes. If you don’t believe me, try it out for yourself and thank me later!
2. Chilled Tea Bags
Don’t throw the tea bag after you’ve had your morning cup of tea. Instead, place in your fridge till it cools down and after that, place them on your eyes for 2-3 minutes. The natural caffeine from the tea calms down your puffy eyes and makes the under-eye skin look brighter.
3. Caffeine-Infused Products
Caffeine smooths and depuffs your under eyes and helps in reducing dark circles. Hence, you should look out for products that contain this ingredient and those which are specifically made for your under-eye area.
4. Raw Potato Slices
Trust mother nature to have the solution for almost everything, amirite? Sometimes the solutions to our health and skin related problems lie in our kitchen. Besides being rich in vitamin C and B6, potatoes also contain an enzyme called catecholase that helps brighten your skin and reduce dark spots. So the next time you wake up with puffy and dark under eyes, try fixing them with 2 slices of raw potatoes.
5. Facial Drainage
When you neglect lymphatic drainage, cellular waste builds up in your cells and hence it causes swelling. That’s why it’s super important to include either gua sha or facial rolling in your skincare routine. Use either a gua sha stone or a jade roller to lightly massage your under-eye area to reduce swelling. This method will work better if you place your gua sha stone or jade roller in the fridge so that it is cool while applying it to your face.
