Saif Ali Khan Reveals He Earned Back Pataudi Palace Through Money From Films

Sukriti Gumber

Taimur Ali Khan has been born amidst a rich lineage. His parents are Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, his grandparents are Mansoor Ali KhanSharmila Tagore and Randhir KapoorBabita. If the Pataudi-Kapoor family tree doesn’t scream legacy, I really don’t know what does!

However, Saif had to work really hard to keep the rich heritage intact. In a chat with Mid-Day‘s Sit with Hitlist, the Nawab recalled that he had to buy back Pataudi palace, which he was originally supposed to inherit. His ancestral house got rented to Neemrana Hotels when Mansoor ji passed away but Saif eventually earned it back.

When my father died, it (Pataudi Palace) got rented to Neemrana Hotels. Aman (Nath) and Francis (Wacziarg) used to run it. Francis passed away. He had said that if I wanted the palace back, I could let him know. I said I want it back. They held a conference and said, okay, you have to give us lots of money! The house I’m supposed to have inherited has been earned back through money from films. You can’t live off the past. At least we can’t, in our family, because there was nothing. There is history, culture, beautiful photographs and of course, some land. It has been a privileged upbringing. But there’s been no inheritance.

Uff, this man! Saif’s aura speaks for him and he is every bit deserving of his Nawab title. It’s commendable how he made his name for himself in the film industry and at the same time, kept his family name alive.
