The Dhoom series is one of Yash Raj Films‘ most successful movie franchises. The first movie was a huge hit with the audience and the subsequent movies have also proven to garner a lot of love from the audience. While the series is predominantly about Jai and Ali played by Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra respectively, it’s the villains that add the spice to the mix. So, every movie is just as good as its antagonist. While the last movie starred Aamir Khan in the role of an antagonist, talks about who will play the bad guy in Dhoom 4 has been going on for years now. Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan‘s name has come up multiple times in regards to Dhoom 4 but no confirmations were given regarding the same. Today reports around the internet suggested that Akshay Kumar was approached for the 4th installment of the series. As per a report in Mid-Day, a source revealed that Akshay had a few meetings with Aditya Chopra about the same.
The source disclosed:
Akshay’s larger-than-life villain act in 2.0 convinced Adi that he would be the perfect fit for the next installment of Dhoom. The duo has had some meetings, including the first round of narration. The role is of a suave underworld don and is much more nuanced than the villains of the previous editions. If all goes well, Akshay and Aditya will make an announcement by the year-end. Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra may not appear in the fourth part while beauty queen Manushi Chhillar may play the female lead.
But the makers of the franchise have clarified these reports are totally false.
Here’s what they had to say:
The article “Dhoom to get Khiladi’s touch?” printed in today’s Mid-day is absolutely incorrect and baseless. Dhoom is an extremely important franchise for us but currently we do not have an idea or script for Dhoom 4. We are always available to clarify any and all queries and strongly urge and request you to kindly double check stories with us well in advance for us to be able to provide you with all accurate facts.
Looks like the talks for Dhoom 4 have been put on a standstill for a while.
