While SRK is ruling the 70mm, Gauri with her design store, Gauri Khan Designs is turning heads. Gauri has established herself as a successful entrepreneur and is already amongst the top interior designers of the nation. In an exclusive interaction with us, Gauri spoke about everything from her hard work, her store, kids to the Badshah of Bollywood!

They say that Gauri Khan has a Midas’ touch, do you believe the same?
I wish that was true. I don’t think I have got the Midas’ touch. I think that I have put in a lot of hard work which is coming together and looking good! I love it when people praise my designs. This is my passion and to get an appreciation for it is an amazing feeling. At whatever stage you are, you are constantly learning As you keep achieving you keep on moving forward. I don’t think I have reached a position where I can say that I am at the top of the game and I have nothing to achieve. I think I have lots to look forward to in life, loads of new projects which are coming my way and I am happy about it.
When you started off, did you ever imagine this is where you would be one day?
When I started off, I didn’t think that this is where I would be. I was just focused and determined. I love what I do and when you love what you do, the results will showcase that and then, the sky is the limit.
With so many things happening around you, how do you manage to keep yourself grounded?
I think my family keeps me grounded. My kids, my husband and just being at home and around them keeps me sorted.
Both Shah Rukh and you have different career paths but do you’ll ever give your feedback to each other?
There is always feedback both of us give each other. He understands the concepts of design and he has his inputs. He also feels that I am extremely focused and punctual. He can’t get over my punctuality. He says it defines me as a person and he loves that about me.
It is his birthday on November 2nd. While every year he meets his fans and the media, what is the plan this year?
The plan this year is to be home, have a quiet dinner and just chill!
We for sure can’t wait for November 2nd to arrive. We are excited and how!
