Buzz around the sequel of the 2005 film Bunty Aur Babli has been going around for a while now. Earlier this year reports around the interweb suggested that Gully Boy breakthrough actor Siddhant Chaturvedi had bagged the titular role for the second installment. But later this year, Saif Ali Khan came on board for the project. But it looks like that has fallen through as well. According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, when Saif walked out of the project the makers were on the lookout for a new lead. Looks like they’ve finally found one. When Saif informed the makers of his decision to walk out, the makers zeroed in on R. Madhavan who loved the script and came on board immediately.
If reports are to be believed, the film went on floors last week. The second installment was supposed to star Rani Mukherji and Abhishek Bachchan in an extended cameo, but Abhishek also walked out of the project because the project as director Shaad Ali wasn’t a part of the sequel anymore. Bunty Aur Babli 2 will be directed by Varun V Sharma. Varun has previously worked on Bharat as a dialogue and screenplay writer along with Ali Abbas Zafar.
