Lilly Singh, better known as her initial YouTube persona Superwoman is currently riding high on her soon-to-premiere late-night NBC talk show. She announced the good news to the world on the Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon with the help of Jimmy and Seth Meyers. By having her own talk show on a mainstream TV channel, Lilly becomes the first woman of colour who is bisexual to host a late-night talk show. This is path-breaking for the late-night sect which has been supremely male-dominated until now. Earlier this year, even before the announcement of her late-night talk show, the Youtuber had come out to the world as bisexual through an Instagram post.

She had received love and support from millions when the post went viral, and one look at the comments section of the above post is enough proof of the same. But today, Lilly took to Instagram to get real. She chose to be completely honest about what happened after she opened up about her sexuality. She said that while she received a humongous amount of support from all sides, she also had to encounter people who were disappointed or were not okay with her coming out. This, she said led to a lot of insecurities because suddenly she wasn’t on a spectrum that could relate to every love song and rom-com. This made her realize that not everyone can actually fit into the mainstream idea or spectrum of love as shown in romantic-comedies. She ends her thoughtful Instagram post with a regular message for her followers to be kind and compassionate.
Take a look at her post:
Lilly, you are a force to be reckoned with and not to mention an inspiration to many around the world. We love you for always being honest about everything that goes on in your life. Because someone somewhere is being benefitted just because you are so real. Thank you, for sharing this with the world.
On the work front, Lilly’s show called A Little Late With Lilly Singh is scheduled to premiere on NBC on 16th September.
