Raise your hand if you’ve ever cried in your car after having a bad haircut. *Awkwardly raises hand*. Even after carrying a reference picture of the chic layered haircut I wanted, my hairdresser royally messed up my hair. Being the socially awkward introvert that I am, I lied and said I loved it. This distressing experience taught me a lot of lessons, one of the most important ones being—only get your hair cut from someone you trust. After the damage is done, all you can do is wait for your hair to grow faster. However, there are a few things you can do to speed up the process. So if you’ve just had a bad haircut or if you just want to learn how to make your hair grow faster, you’re in the right place. Here are three effective ways you can grow your hair faster:
1. Derma-Rolling:
We all know that using a derma-roller can work wonders for your skin. It can boost the collagen production of your skin which in turn will reduce the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes and pigmentation. However, it’s a lesser-known fact that using a derma-roller on your scalp can speed up hair growth. This method really works because it causes mild trauma to your scalp which in turn increases collagen production and strengthens hair follicles. So if you’ve been trying to grow your hair out, then you should ask your dermatologist about micro-needling as a method to boost hair growth.
2. Hot Oil Massage:
Turns out our grannies were right, we shouldn’t skip our oil massages. When you do a hot oil massage, your scalp will be able to absorb the nutrients from the oil better, since the hot oil will open up the pores. You can choose any type of oil you want, however, my personal favourite is this makeshift mixture I made with coconut, marula and moringa oil. After you’ve selected the oil of your choice, heat it up a little and apply it to your scalp. Make sure you massage it in. This will increase the blood circulation on your scalp, hence doing this will boost your hair growth.
3. Consume Biotin:
Biotin AKA the miracle nutrient for your hair, skin and nails should definitely be included in your diet. It is part of the vitamin B family and plays a vital role in the health of your hair. So make sure you eat vitamin B rich foods like mushrooms, nuts, eggs, whole grains etc. You can also ask your doctor if taking supplements will be a good option for you.
