We always look forward to watching movies and one of the most awaited films of 2019 was Kalank. It boasted of an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha among others. But once the film released, it failed to impress the critics and masses. Karan Johar, who has produced the film, spoke about Kalank’s failure.
The filmmaker was present at the India Today Conclave and was asked whether he was the numero uno in Bollywood. Disagreeing on it, he said, “We just released a film (Kalank) that was a global disaster. It was a setback for us.”
KJo also added that today, it’s the content that’s the king and the audiences are the superstars.
He shared:
Writers are the strongest in cinema these days. We are in an industry that is acknowledging writers. They will come to you if you give them strong content. If our film has failed at the box office, then we have given them something wrong.
Varun too had spoken about the film’s failure and revealed that it had affected him greatly. This was the first time he was going through failure. Besides this, he also spoke about how the film was learning for him and you can read more about it here.
