We all remember movies for the story, performances and music, among other things. And sometimes, irrespective of the screen time, some characters manage to grab our attention because they make a huge impact on the plot. That’s what an actor also looks forward to while portraying a role in the film. Sonam Kapoor is one who’d love to be a part of movies where her character takes the story forward, irrespective of the length of her role.
In a recent interview with rediff.com, she spoke about not wanting to be a decoration in films.
She shared:
I don’t believe in the length of the role. But I definitely don’t want to be a decoration. I can do a Neerja, a Zoya Factor, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, Khoobsurat or a Veere Di Wedding but at the same time, I can do a Sanju or a Milka Singh. If I have to do a film with three scenes and two songs, I’d rather do that in a film like Sanju or Bhaag Mikha Bhaag, where I have something to do and my character takes the story forward.
She further added that everyone needs to work with people they enjoy working with. She gives Delhi 6 as an example and said it’s one of her favourite performances.
Sonam also added:
It’s important to work in films that make a difference. I am very proud of PadMan. It is one of my best performances and I never thought I would enjoy working in a film like that. I love working with R Balki. I would work with him in a heartbeat just because of the kind of person he is. He has a lot of respect for women, and a lot of integrity in the way he works.
Sonam’s film, The Zoya Factor which also stars Dulquer Salmaan, released today (20th September).
