Today, the winners of the 66th National Film awards were announced. According to The Hindu, 419 films competed in the awards and the best cinematic experiences were given their due credit. The last year was clearly Ayushmann Khurrana‘s year with his back to back hits – Badhaai Ho and Andhadhun – in the movies! Come 2019 and Vicky Kaushal brought it in with a bang in his film – Uri: A Surgical Strike. Both these actors gave one of the best performances of their careers with these films and were greatly appreciated for it.
So, when it came to the Best Actor category, this time around, it was shared by both AK and VK. We sure do understand why it would have been difficult to choose, we totally get it, Jury. Thanking the jury for the recognition, both these amazing actors shared their joy on being awarded.
On both his films winning awards and being recognised, here’s what Ayushmann had to say:
It’s truly humbling and hugely gratifying to win the coveted National Awards. Today’s honour is a validation of my hard work, my belief system, my journey in movies and my reason to be an actor in the first place. I’m thrilled that both the films that I have done – AndhaDhun and Badhaai Ho have won at the prestigious National Awards.
Sriram Raghavan also won the award for the Best Director for Andhadhun, and Badhaai Ho won the award for the Best Popular Film. Of course, Ayushmann couldn’t be more thrilled.
Sharing his joy, he said:
I have been truly fortunate to be a part of Sriram Raghvan’s vision and congratulate my director for his genius. As an artist, AndhaDhun challenged me and I strongly feel it made me a better actor. I’m glad that a subject like Badhaai Ho also won big today and I congratulate my director Amit Sharma for his breakthrough script that became a talking point in every household.
Our handsome hunk Vicky Kaushal also expressed his happiness on bagging such a prestigious award.
15 years of failures, rejections and hard work has lead to this moment and it just can’t get better than this. This is an honour I am going to cherish for the rest of my life. Being conferred with the National Award has been a dream since the time I understood what films meant to me, and films truly mean the world to me. Most importantly, I am dedicating this award to each and every brave soldier of our country and their families. Thank you for all your sacrifices. Jai Hindi!! PS- HOW’S THE JOSH??? VERY VERY HIGH SIR!!
Our Josh right now is also high!! Congrats to our two favourite actors!
