Everyone deserves a break from their hectic work schedules, right? Sometimes, it is even necessary to take a hiatus from all the hustling just to clear our heads and relax. So, we totally understand why Ed Sheeran’s decision to take a long break from making music. But still, it’s Ed Sheeran. And we won’t get to listen to a new song in his voice for a long time, and that just breaks our hearts.
The ‘Shape Of You‘ singer was on a two and a half year-long world concert tour, which ended on Monday. According to a report in Metro.co.uk, in an emotional announcement on his final concert in the UK, Ed shared that he will be going on a lengthy hiatus and is apparently looking forward to spending time with his family and wife, Cherry Seaborn, whom he married last year.
In his announcement, he said:
There is something very bittersweet about it. I love that you guys are here and we are ending it in Ipswich. This is my last gig for probably 18 months.
In these two and a half years, the singer even visited India in 2017 and was received with great enthusiasm by millions of his fans in the country. By the end of the tour, he clocked up a staggering 260 shows in total. Phew, he sure has earned himself that break.
We will miss you and your music, Ed. Can’t wait to have you back!
