On the 56th Birth Anniversary of noted filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh on August 31, Bollywood’s legendary actor Shri Amitabh Bachchan is set to unveil the poster of Ram Kamal Mukherjee‘s second film A Tribute to Rituparno Ghosh: Season’s Greetings. The film stars Celina Jaitly and Lillette Dubey, and happens to be India’s first feature film to collaborate with United Nations Free and Equal for LGBTQIA cause.
Mr Bachchan seems to have shared a close bond with the late filmmaker and so, apart from unveiling the look of the film, he also recorded a special video message for director Ram Kamal and his team. In the video message, Amitabh Bachchan states that we lost him too early. He adds that he is grateful that he and his family members – Abhishek Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan – had the pleasure of working with the Bengali director in films like The Last Lear, Choker Bali, Antar Mahal, among others.
Amitabh further applauds the fact that the film deals with LGBTQIA rights and the abolishment of article 377 in India. The film stars Lillette Dubey, Celina Jaitly, the first Indian transgender actor Shree Ghatak and debutant Azhar Khan. The songs in the film are written by Rabindranath Tagore and music composed by Shailendra & Sayanti. Set in Kolkata, the story revolves around a mother and daughter relationship with a twist in the tale
Director Ram Kamal shares that he is super excited and that it is a big moment for everyone associated with the project when someone as respectable and talented as Amitabh Bachchan agreed to unveil the first look of their film.
Lead actor Celina Jaitly shares:
A legend like Amit ji’s belief in a heartfelt humble project like ours is of great encouragement to all who pursue cinema with passion.
Producers Aritra Das and Shailendra Kumar, who are great fans of Amit Ji feel surreal about Mr. Bachchan supporting their film and Shaliendra even mentions that for a long time, he thought director Ram Kamal Mukherjee was pulling a prank on him.
