For the past few weeks, the Marvel-Sony split on Spider-Man has been what is dominating the news on the internet. Earlier this month, news of Spider-Man being no longer a part of the MCU had hit all the Marvel fans like a moving train. Marvel fans couldn’t imagine the MCU without the wall-crawler, especially with how things ended in the latest instalment — Spider-Man: Far From Home. Not to mention, the MCU was prepping Peter Parker to take over Tony Stark‘s mantle. While his dad Dominic Holland sided with Marvel fans by tweeting #SaveSpiderMan, Tom Holland had chosen to remain silent about the whole issue. Until now. The actor who has attended Disney’s ultimate fan event D23 Expo finally opened up to IGN about the future of Spider-Man.
He said:
Basically, we’ve made five great movies. It’s been five amazing years. I’ve had the time of my life. Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life. It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.
Talking about the rift, here’s what Marvel President Kevin Feige had to say:
I’m feeling about Spider-Man gratitude and joy. We got to make five films within the MCU with Spider-Man: two standalone films and three with the Avengers. It was a dream that I never thought would happen. It was never meant to last forever. We knew there was a finite amount of time that we’d be able to do this, and we told the story we wanted to tell, and I’ll always be thankful for that.
We are happy that we’ll at least get to see Peter Parker return to the screen and that Tom Holland will be returning to the franchise. But we’re still having a hard time imagining how the MCU is going to deal with his absence.
