Not belonging to a ‘film family’, Deepika Padukone has carved a niche for herself as an actor in Bollywood. She made her debut with Om Shanti Om in 2007, and since then, there has been no looking back for her. But she was also the one who used to watch maybe two films a year. There was something about the movies that made her want to be a part of it. And look where she is today!
In a recent interview with Vogue, Deepika she shared how she wanted to be a part of Bollywood.
She said:
As a family, we saw maybe two films ever year. I don’t know why, but whenever I watched a movie, I knew that one day I’d be doing this. I’d start with modelling, then go into films. And that’s exactly how it happened.
The Piku actress had no training or mentor to guide her. She has had her set of ups and downs too, but her dedication helped her reach her goal.
Deepika shared:
I had no training, no mentors. I worked it all out on my own. Sure, I had some failures, personal and professional. But sheer determination fuelled me. It was empowering.
With success also came stardom and today, Deepika is one actor who has a massive fan following. She also shared that nothing makes her happier than the compliments she receives for her work. But when people tell her she hasn’t changed and that is still herself is more rewarding for her.
The coming year, 2020, is going to be very special for her since two of her films will be releasing. Interestingly, both the characters, Laxmi Agarwal (Chhapaak) and Romi Dev (’83) are real-life characters with the heavy background.
We cannot wait to see Deepika in these films!
