We’ve often said this – it is not easy being an actor. They have to constantly prove themselves and many a time, people criticise them too. John Abraham, who made his debut in Bollywood as an actor in 2003 with Jism, too has received harsh feedback very often.
The actor opened up about how people have told him that he shouldn’t be a part of the industry on By Invite Only.
He shared:
I don’t deserve to be in this industry’ is the worst piece of criticism I’ve ever received. I got that from Day 1. It’s been about 17 years since then. Most of the people who said it are now married with children, half of them have retired, some have left their jobs. I am still here.
John was present on the show along with his Batla House co-star, Mrunal Thakur and director Nikkhil Advani. Mrunal too spoke about how she had to prove that she could be a part of Bollywood.
She said:
It was difficult to leave TV. Not just the filmmakers, you have to prove it to the audience also that I can be a Bollywood actress as well.
Nikkhil, on the other hand, expressed his views on actresses’ choices of their roles from back in the days to now.
He said:
There was a time when actresses would calculate their roles on the basis of the number of songs, the stage shows that they can do and the number of weddings they can dance at. There is a change now, primarily because of the audience.
Coming to Batla House, the film released on 15th August 2019.
