Where do I even begin when talking about Deepika Padukone. Gorgeous, talented and ever-smiling superstar? Deepika has grown leaps and bounds from her debut Om Shanti Om and her array of films are proof of that. The actress who does not have a release in 2019 has most of last year to organize her breathtaking wedding and a large part of this year shooting for her maiden production Chhapaak. Chhapaak is based is loosely based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal who Deepika plays as Malti.
Deepika is no stranger to intense roles take Mastaani, Padmaavati and now Malti. It’s not always easy to jump from one character to another especially when you play a character that is so intense. And Malti is one such character according to Deepika. She believes no character ever leaves her system completely. After the release of Padmaavat, the actress had opened up about how she needed therapy to get over the jauhar scene because it was so disturbing. According to reports in DNA, turns out Malti’s journey was also quite emotionally taxing.
A source revealed:
Deepika plays an intense character in Chhapaak, where she had to go deep into the life of Laxmi. Romi is completely different, so she had to let go of the emotional journey of the former and have a clean slate before starting her next shoot.
This time around, turns out Deepika didn’t have as much time because she had two days before she would start shoot as Romi Dev aka Kapil Dev‘s wife in ’83. The actress revealed that detaching herself from a role always takes time.
She opened about what she had to do to cope with switching from Malti to Romi.
I’ve always believed that a character never really leaves your system entirely. This time around, I took to cleaning and organising things around my home to help me cope with switching from Laxmi to Romi Dev in ’83. It helped me de-stress and clear my mind of any clutter.
Now that’s a revelation, isn’t it? We’re sure a lot of people can relate to that. Looks like even DP went the Mary Kondo way, to de-clutter her surroundings to de-stress.
