The 1993 release, Darr was received well by the critics and masses alike. Directed by Yash Chopra, the psychological thriller starred Shah Rukh Khan, Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla in the lead. This was one of the few films which saw SRK play the antagonist. What everyone also remembers about Darr is the showdown Sunny had with Shah Rukh and Mr. Chopra on the sets. Sunny opened up about his tiff and also spoke about not talking to Shah Rukh for 16 years.
Recalling the incident, in an interview with India TV, the actor said, “I was doing a scene in the film where Shah Rukh stabs me. I had a heated discussion with Yash Chopra regarding that scene. I tried explaining that I am a commando officer in the film, my character is an expert, I am very fit, then how can this boy (Shah Rukh’s character) beat me easily. He can beat me if I can’t see him. If he can stab me while I am looking at him, then I won’t be called a commando.”
The host of the show, Rajat Sharma also shared a video from the interview where he asked Sunny about the entire unit being scared of him.

Earlier, in a media interaction, the Ghayal actor had spoken about the issue he had with the film.
He said:
At the end of the day, people loved me in the film. They loved Shah Rukh Khan as well. My only issue with the film was that I did not know they would glorify the villain. I always work in films with an open heart and believe the person. I believe working with trust. Unfortunately, we have many actors and stars who don’t function in this manner. Maybe that’s the way they want to get their stardom.
Sunny Deol is currently busy with Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas a film which he is directing. It marks the debut of his son Karan Deol and Sahher Bambba in Bollywood and will be releasing on 20th September 2019.
