The #MeToo movement gained momentum in India after Tanushree Dutta opened up about being sexually assaulted by Nana Patekar on the sets of Horn ‘OK’ Pleassss. After this, a number of women got the courage and shared their stories too. Alok Nath was also named in the #MeToo movement but even after that, we saw him in the recent release, De De Pyaar De. Vikas Bahl, who was also accused of sexual misconduct, is back on board as the director of Super 30. When Taapsee Pannu was asked about this situation, she had something to say.
“Look, if the person who is accused of sexual harassment, doesn’t get punished, of course, the spirit of the movement, the spirit of a woman who comes out with the story of abuse in public, gets shattered,” she said in an interview with IANS.
But the actress doesn’t want this to stop other girls from raising their voices if they are abused. Taapsee wants no one to tolerate abuse.
She said:
We all can see how a collective consciousness has come into the picture since the #MeToo movement started. Nothing will change overnight, but we should not give up on the situation and tolerate abuse.
The Manmarziyaan actress believes that people should continue and only then will it result in some change in the future.
We couldn’t agree any more with Taapsee. What are your thoughts on this? Tell us in the comments below.
