So, you’ve heard of chanting but don’t know what it’s all about? Or you know a little about it but aren’t sure how it helps. Well, chanting, in its basic form, is saying a word or sound repeatedly to help one’s concentration. The words, or mantras, are believed to have spiritual or psychological powers.
To chant, you could pick any mantra you resonate with. Recently, on Malini’s Girl Tribe, we reached out to the wonderful women there to find out which mantras they use to chant and to understand a little better about how chanting helps them. And they had lots to share! Many people recommended the mantra ‘Om’, while others swore by the Buddhist principle ‘Nam Myōhō Renge Kyō’. Moreover, from helping to calm one’s mind to leading a life with more clarity—chanting seems to benefit in different ways. And given how stressful and overwhelming life could get sometimes, I bet we could all use a little help to develop our mental strength. So if you’ve been considering starting a chanting practice, read on to see what the Tribe has to say!
Chanting has changed my life. I am a beginner and have been doing it for only 2 months now. But I find myself to be a lot happier. I have so much clarity and gratitude, and have a great check on my emotions and reactions.
I believe chanting anything with faith brings positive effects. There are many mantras out there and you can explore which ones you are drawn to. The basic principle is the same. Chant with a fresh mind and sit where you will not be disturbed. Have an intention before chanting. It can be anything. ‘I want my life to be peaceful’, ‘I want to release my anger’, ‘I want to be more balanced,’ etc. The intention should be related to a quality that you want for yourself. Don’t believe in material intentions. Those things come as a byproduct. Chant for as long you like. After chanting for a few minutes you will notice a shift in your energy. A lightness in the body. And if you do this consistently for a few weeks you will benefit immensely!
I’ve been chanting for more than 7 years now, though not in a very structured way. Yet I would say, it works for me. I connect with it as well as any other way of meditation. I’d recommend for people to experience it once to know if it works for them.
I have taken to this practice over the last 1 year now, and all I can say is it works wonders! It has transformed me and my life, significantly. It has helped bring clarity, wisdom, strength and peace to my life.
It’s a wonderful practice! I’ve been practicing for more than 10 years now. People who knew me earlier often comment now that there is something different about me now. It gives you immense courage, patience and determination.
Chanting helps to change your perspective towards others. Rather than complaining about things, I now find myself cultivating gratitude towards life. And that has turned my life by 180 degrees! This practice does not ask you to depend on any third person for your happiness, but it starts with you and your heart. I chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo, which is a Buddhist chant that means ‘I am dedicating my life towards the mystical law of cause and effect’.
Chanting works like the law of attraction. So, to receive abundance, you have to constantly be in a state of abundance…and chanting helps you do that. It is an amazing tool to keep up your mental strength. This practice can help you move even mountains!
It has worked wonders for me. It has brought a lot of positivity in my life. Just visualise whatever you want while chanting. It works like a miracle, believe me!
I chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo, and it’s incredible! It has the power to bring calmness and peace, and a different perspective of life. This doesn’t mean that you change overnight, but it definitely gives you strength to overcome tough times.
Reading what the members of the Tribe have to say, chanting definitely seems to be very beneficial in dealing with stress, bringing a positive change to one’s life, and developing a healthier outlook on everything.
