When I think of makeup, I usually divide the products into 2 categories – the fun ones and the essentials. The former includes eyeshadow palettes and highlighters, whilst the latter comprises of concealers and blushes. The inclusion of blush as an essential may come as a surprise, but I’ve found that a sweep of the right shade livens up my complexion instantly. Since I’ve tested out a fair share of rouges, I thought that it’s time to list out my favourites.
1. MAC Powder Blush In ‘Melba’
Although I love the peachy-coral hue of this blush, I’m actually obsessed with its consistency. The powder goes on silkily and delivers a seamless flush of colour that stays put all day. Whilst you can definitely build up the colour, I prefer keeping things subtle by applying 1 to 2 coats.
2. NARS Blush In ‘Orgasm’
This scandalously-named product is a favourite amongst many beauty lovers and I’m no exception! The blend of peach and pink suits literally every complexion, whilst the fine golden shimmer takes your face to the next level. I keep this one aside for special events and weddings as it doubles up as both, a blush and a highlighter.
3. Benefit Cosmetics Benetint Cheek & Lip Stain
When I first came across this stain, I was afraid that it would be too pigmented for my liking. However, I was absolutely wrong! Although the formula looks opaque initially, it blends in beautifully to provide the most natural-looking flush.
4. Stila Convertible Color In ‘Peony’
This creamy rouge is the newest addition to my makeup kit but I’ve already declared it as a staple. The brown-toned rosy shade gives my face a sheer kick of colour in a sophisticated and chic way. In just a few taps, I get a healthy flush on my cheeks.
5. Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm In ‘Amp’d Up Apple’
With its twist-up format and balm-like formula, this stick blush is the one I always travel with. The warm, nude-pink shade melts into skin and leaves behind a glowing pop of colour. If you are a fan of the way your skin looks after a workout, this blush is the one to get.
