It’s a dream for a lot of people to be a part of Bollywood. And even after they bag their first film, a lot of hard work goes behind being able to sustain in the industry. Having a film background or not, to be a part of the industry and get work that you like is not easy. Abhay Deol, who made his debut with Socha Na Tha, will be completing 15 years in the industry in 2020, but in these years, we have seen him in limited films. The actor recently shared the reason behind it.
In an interview with Mid-day, he said, “No one is giving me any work. The kind of content I want to be part of is hardly made. At the same time, I have not closed myself to anything. As long as it excites me, I am game for it.”
Abhay also mentioned that he wouldn’t have his career shaped in any other way as it is a choice he has made.
He shared:
The kind of stories I like often comes from debutant directors. So, to ensure that the film sees the light of day is a long process in itself.
Abhay’s choice of films have also been different and haven’t been mainstream movies. “I haven’t bagged awards or made any landmark project, so there won’t be much to celebrate. If you go against the mainstream narrative, you do not get the visibility,” he said.
The actor is soon going to be seen in Netflix‘s latest Indian original film, Chopsticks which also stars Mithila Palkar and Vijay Raaz among others. The film also stars a goat (Abhay says the goat has acted better than everyone) and we have a photo of it too! Check it out:
