Be it collaborating with the top minds in the industry – from Sanjay Leela Bhansali to Rohit Shetty, Zoya Akhtar and Kabir Khan – or choosing the right scripts and content, he has been hitting all the right notes.
While he is currently prepping for Kabir Khan’s film, ’83, he has already signed on his next with Yash Raj Films titled Jayeshbhai Jordaar. Penned by debutant writer-director Divyang Thakkar, Ranveer terms it a ‘miracle script’. The film is said to be a humorous entertainer set in Gujarat, and Ranveer will essay the role of the Gujarati guy – Jayeshbhai. Produced by Maneesh Sharma, it will go on floors this October.
Speaking about his journey in films, Ranveer mentions that he has been immensely fortunate to have collaborated with some of the finest film-makers of our country. He adds that he is glad that today, he is in a position in his career where he can recognise exceptional talent and back the vision of someone new and brilliant like Divyang.
Speaking about the film, he says:
Jayeshbhai is a film with a big heart. It’s a film for everyone! It is, in fact, a ‘miracle script’ that YRF found for me out of nowhere. The sheer brilliance of the writing compelled me to immediately green-light this film. Both humorous and poignant, Jayeshbhai is right up there with the most solid on-paper material I’ve ever come across
Producer Maneesh Sharma adds:
For a producer and a filmmaker, the holy grail is a script that is a balance of a relevant message delivered in an entertaining manner. Divyang’s script is a great example of this balance and we are all very excited to have him helm it.
This sounds like one entertaining film we cannot wait to watch!
