It’s been more than 3 years since Shubhangi Atre replaced Shilpa Shinde in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain. While we are sure the actress must have been skeptical about taking on a role as popular as Angoori Bhabi’s, we are happy she delivered beyond our expectations.
Shubhangi bought her own individual flavour to the character without compromising on any aspect which made it popular in the first place. But did you know she was almost going to pass the offer?! It so happened that Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain was not the first show where Shubhangi was asked to step into Shilpa’s shoes.
Previously, she had reportedly replaced Shilpa in Chidiya Ghar too. Although it was merely a coincidence, Shubhangi wasn’t keen on it until her daughter, Ashi convinced her to at least give it a shot. Recalling the time, she told Hindustan Times:
I wasn’t scared to play the part, which was already so popular among the audience, but had inhibitions that if something goes wrong then the character’s impact might get affected.
Well, you definitely didn’t impact the popularity and perhaps even achieved more than you had then imagined. Am I right, guys?!
