There are so many shows that leave such a big impact in our lives that we end up using references and phrases from them all the time. Shows like F.R.I.E.N.D.S., How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family and Brooklyn 99 are all so legendary and they just don’t get old. Some shows are classic like the ones we just mentioned, while others are so gripping that you end up binge-watching them all at once because those cliffhangers just get to you. One of the best examples of such shows is the ultimate—Game Of Thrones. It’s almost a cult, this show! And speaking of GoT, it’s not just us, but the entire world is waiting for this season. If you’re planning to catch up on this show one last time before the 8th season airs (April 14), we’ve listed the most iconic moments that are extremely significant in our opinion and define the flow of the entire show. So, if you wanna be all caught up with GoT, here are a few epic moments (apart from many many others) you need to know about.
1. The first cliffhanger
The series start with the moment when little Bran finds out the scandalous relationship between Cersei Lannister and her brother Jaime Lannister. And Jaime’s epic dialogue “The things we do for love” before he pushes Bran Stark down that tower was pretty epic.
2. Beheading Ned Stark
This moment was one of the most shocking ones in the earlier episodes on GoT. The person who we thought was the protagonist on the show was beheaded on the command of the then king, Joffrey Baratheon.
3. King Joffrey dying
And then the reign of one of the most ruthless and cruel kings on the show was finally over when Olenna Tyrell poisons King Joffrey’s drink during the wedding feast of his new queen, Margaery Tyrell. We really were looking forward to this moment, TBH.
4. The Many-Faced God
Valar Morghulis! This was said for the first time by Jaqen H’ghar, one of the Faceless Men of Braavos. He taught Arya Stark to be a Faceless Man too, but she couldn’t serve the Many-Faced God anymore and she absconded. But, their training and her growth as a warrior were very interesting to see on the show.
5. The Red Wedding
One of those moments you defo weren’t expecting despite the many shocking deaths on the show. Season 3 ends on a shocking note when Robb Stark falls in love with Queen Talisa and he breaks the promise he made to Walder Frey of marrying any one of his daughters. Then Walder Frey soon takes his revenge by teaming up with the Lannisters and arranging a massacre that kills most of Robb’s bannermen, his mother, wife and himself too. While he stabs Robb in the heart he says, “The Lannisters send their regards“. This also means that Tywin Lannister was actually the reason behind the Red Wedding and he used the pact-breakage as an excuse for the massacre.
6. Walk of atonement
After all the torture Cersei goes through thanks to the High Sparrow, she finally decides to own up and confess to her sins. What she doesn’t know is that she will need to perform a ceremony where she’s stripped off all her clothing and walk a specific amount of distance naked in front of the entire city where everyone screams “shame” as she walks.
7. Hold the door
The one moment that was so intense and sensitive that everyone who watched had teared up. This was the story of our beloved character, Hodor and how his name came to be. Bran goes back in time when Hodor was a normal boy and suddenly gets an attack, falls on the floor and screams “Hold The Door” which he eventually shortens to Hodor. The backtracking of this story that links to the present scene is really heartwarming and will make you bawl like a baby.
8. The battle of the b*stards
This war takes place during season 6 between Jon Snow and Lord Ramsay Bolton and Jon eventually wins the war even though he thought he was losing toward the end thanks to the Knights of the Vale who come in and save the day.
9. When her dragons are kidnapped
Daenerys Targaryen‘s dragons are finally growing quickly, but not as quickly as she’d want them. They’re still quite small to protect themselves and one day that she’s at Qarth, she walks in her room only to find that her dragons have been kidnapped. She yells “Where are my dragons?“. That dialogue gains a lot of popularity close after the release of this episode. She eventually finds out that Pyat Pree kidnaps them and holds them up at House of the Undying. She soon wins her dragons over and leaves Qarth.
10. And finally, when one dragon turns
The last episode of season 7 was the most epic one ever. Especially the last scene, where the White Walkers lift out the corpse of one of Daenerys’ dragons and The Night King turns him into a creature from their community calling him The Ice Dragon. The episode ends with the Ice Dragon taking down The Wall.
The next and apparently final season of Game Of Thrones is going to be more than legendary and we genuinely can’t wait. Tell us your favourite moment of GoT in the comments below.
