I love the squeaky clean feel of my hair when I use a good shampoo. However, on most days, I just don’t have the time for the whole wash-and-dry cycle! Thus, when the beauty industry began churning out dry shampoo at the speed of light, I was thrilled. Suddenly, I was able to combat my greasy locks in just a few minutes, without wasting a minute of my precious morning.
The only downside is that after a few hours my hair starts feeling a bit flat. On days when I’m overzealous in my application, I also notice that the residue stays put on my hair. Since both of these effects aren’t appealing, I started researching for tips on working with dry shampoo. Luckily, I found the perfect hack that solves these issues!
Instead of using dry shampoo in the morning, I’ve started applying it at night before bed. This allows the formula to really work through my hair, whilst I toss and turn in my sleep. If you’ve got very oily locks, I recommend massaging the formula in for a few minutes before settling into bed. Not only does this easy tweak sop up oil better, but also adds a ton of texture to my locks. All I need to do when I wake up is gently brush through my mane to detangle it. Since I’ve started making this change, I’ve always ended up with fresh and bouncy hair that lasts throughout the day.
If you are keen to try your hand at this hack, here are some dry shampoos that I highly recommend:
1. Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo
Infused with argan oil and rice starch, this formula removes build-up and grease, whilst keeping hair soft and glossy. I love that it comes in a dark tint, which makes it practically undetectable when I spray it on to my hair.
2. Ouai Dry Shampoo Foam
This foaming dry shampoo feels as good as an actual shampoo session. It works brilliantly to cleanse and freshen up hair, without leaving behind a white cast. Plus, it smells incredible!
3. Aveda Shampure™ Dry Shampoo
Before I started applying dry shampoo at night, I used to stash a bottle of this in my gym bag. The fine powder is great at reviving hair and nixing all signs of oil.
