“Sometimes I Feel Like Crying For No Reason,” Alia Bhatt Opens Up About Battling Anxiety

Alia Bhatt is currently at the peak of her career with back-to-back hits and a fantastic lineup of films. She seems to be in a comfortable and happy space in her personal life too. Alia publicly declared her love for beau Ranbir Kapoor at the Filmfare Awards and they also danced together on ‘Ishq Wala Love’. But recently, in an interview with Filmfare, the Raazi actress opened up about having bouts of anxiety since the past five to six months.

Alia shared:

I haven’t been depressed but I’ve had bouts of anxiety. It comes and goes. It’s been happening quite a bit since the past five to six months. It’s not like an anxiety attack but I just feel low.

Thankfully, because of her sister, Shaheen Bhatt, who has fought depression, Alia was aware of it. Shaheen has also written a book called I’ve Never Been (un)Happier on battling depression and the actress has read it which has made her even more aware.

Alia also shared that no matter how bad it is, she just lets herself feel it.

She said:

Sometimes, I feel like crying for no reason. Then it passes. Initially, I’d be a little confused. I’d constantly give reasons that it’s because of work or maybe I’m tired or haven’t been able to meet anyone… The kind of personality I have, I become a little on the edge.

The Dear Zindagi actress also spoke to her friend Ayan Mukerji, her sister’s friend, Rohan Joshi regarding this and everyone told her that she has got to realise that it will go away.

Alia also had an important thing to share. “What’s important is to accept it and not say that you’re fine. If you’re not feeling fine, then you should just say you’re not feeling fine,” she said.

We’re so glad that Alia had openly spoken about it because it is definitely going to be comforting for a lot of people out there. Like Alia has said, it’s important to accept that you’re not fine and say it out loud. More power to you, Alia.
