Every single person on this planet is different and unique in their own way. Everyone has an identity and personality that sets them apart from others. Some people are enterprising, some are confident, some are social while others are introverts. There are also a bunch of people who are naturally awkward and I’m defo one of them. I’ve been this way since I was a kid and there are many things that might seem okay and normal to most people but are super tough for awkward peeps. If you get what I am saying, here are a few things you might be able to relate to. So, let’s get right to it!
1. You can’t handle small talk
You’re not only bad at it, but you really hate it too and hence you don’t even try. You literally just stand there, asking “And, what else?” every alternate sentence.
2. You love it when a plan is cancelled
You obviously say yes to a plan at first, but you secretly hope it gets canned so you can cosy up in your bed and Netflix all night and you prefer it instead of hanging out with other humans and socialising with them.
3. A big crowd makes you super nervous
Lavish parties and just basically huge crowds make you extremely nervous and you rather not deal with them at all. Ever.
4. You almost always can’t coordinate a handshake or hug
So, it could get really uncomfortable if your hands go in the wrong place by mistake. Oops!
5. You suffer from bladder shyness
If you’re in a public bathroom with multiple cubicles, you might face bladder shyness. If you know that someone outside is waiting or can hear you pee, it’s harder for you to do it.
6. You don’t know how to handle a compliment
If someone says you look good, your reply could be as inappropriate as “Happy Birthday”. It’s like you’re just not cut out to accepting a compliment.
7. Ordering food makes you anxious
Food ordering apps are the best according to you. Because you don’t have to go through the entire ordeal of explaining your order. But what’s worse than that is collecting everyone’s preference in dishes and then ordering it all.
8. You master in inappropriate behaviour
You’re just a pro when it comes to saying the wrong things at the worst time. You personify the term “foot in mouth” because you perpetually suffer from it. And when you try to make things better, you actually end up making it worse. Damage control isn’t your forte either.
I constantly feel like I’m on a sitcom and there are situations I face that make me want to look at an imaginary camera and react awkwardly. Do you feel it too? Tell me in the comments below!
