The saree is no longer constrained to the usual ‘traditional wear’ category—especially, when celebs show us day in and day out how to modernise the way in which sarees are draped and styled. Celebrity stylists are now going all out with this six-yard of goodness and giving us more and more ways of wearing it. Today we’re taking inspo from Karisma Kapoor on how to look uber-cool in a saree.
Now, when we first saw this look, we couldn’t help but think of how well this look would do on the streets of London. Celebrity stylist Tanya Ghavri selected these ensembles from Raw Mango by Sanjay Garg and teamed it in a way we would want to try out next. The pallu of the red saree was draped around the neck like a scarf and the saree was teamed with a brocade jacket. The one-button fastening and the pockets were the utilitarian details that we loved in the jacket. Tanya rightfully accessorised the look with chandbali earrings from Ghanasingh Be True, a kadha from Jaipur Jewels and a gold box clutch.

Get The Look: Style your pallu in a way you drape a scarf. You can wear it around your neck like Karisma or just pin it around your shoulder. Then overlay it with a knee-length jacket that cuts the usual length proportionately.
Fashion Takeaway: Cotton-based fabric tends to puff up when draped in the traditional way. Adding a layer of a jacket can easily constrain the puffiness of the saree.
