While we all were eyeing the gorgeous gowns that took over the red carpet of the 91st Academy Awards, one particular look caught my attention immediately! Being a diehard fan of Breakfast At Tiffany‘s, I couldn’t help but think about the iconic look Audrey Hepburn dons in the movie the minute Lady Gaga stepped on the red carpet. Little did I know then, that this particular look is an ultimate ode to the classic movie!
The resemblance is instantly evident. Though the silhouette of designer Hubert de Givenchy‘s dress in the movie and the Alexander McQueen one that made to the red carpet is not the same, the elegant vibe is unmissable. The opera gloves and the twisted french roll hairstyle were enough hints to throw us back to the opening scene of the movie. But apparently, that was not it.
Take a good and closer look at the stellar necklace she had on her! Guess where this beautiful yellow diamond is from? Well, it’s from the vault of Tiffany & Co. and was released specially for Lady Gaga. The gorgeous creation is not only an epitome of elegance and grace but also has an interesting history behind it.
The diamond was previously worn by Audrey Hepburn during her promotions for the movie Breakfast At Tiffany’s. In 2012, in honour of Tiffany & Co. 175th anniversary, the dazzling gem was reset in the dainty, modern style necklace that Lady Gaga wore on the red carpet.
The history behind the magnificent diamond is mindblowing too. As reported by People.com, the legendary diamond was discovered 141 years ago by founder Charles Lewis Tiffany in South Africa! The cushion-cut stone is 128.54 carats and is known to be priceless. But, of course, for the ones who are interested to know how expensive the one-of-a-kind gem is, we got to know the estimated value of it too. As reported by Insider, the diamond is approximately $30 million!
This was definitely a mighty move by Lady Gaga, but it wasn’t just her red carpet moment that is making news RN. She also won the Best Original Song Academy Award for the song ‘Shallow’ for the movie, A Star Is Born. Her speech was one to remember too. Here’s a snippet of the heartwarming speech:
But what it’s about is not giving up. If you have a dream, fight for it. There’s a discipline for passion. And it’s not about how many times you get rejected or you fall down or you’re beaten up. It’s about how many times you stand up and are brave and you keep on going.
Another moment we aren’t easily going to forget from the epic night was the performance by the fab duo, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. The award-winning song was performed live and reinstated in us the reason why it deserved the Oscar!
Overall, the night was an epic one for Lady Gaga and one thing’s for sure, Audrey Hepburn would definitely approve this stunning appearance.
I can’t really stop going gaga over the whole look and, of course, the diamond! What about you? Let us know what you think of this look in the comments below.
