We all know that yoga is good for both our physical and mental wellbeing. However, I never thought that a makeup trend would be based on it! ‘Yoga skin’, as it’s called, is the latest Instagram craze to hit the beauty community. Started by Sara Hill, a UK-based makeup artist, this trend is all about creating that post-workout glow, minus the dripping sweat and redness.
According to Sara’s Instagram posts, the key to achieving this look lies in the products you use. According to her, you first need to cleanse and prime your face. Then, it’s time to create a makeup cocktail! Mix a few pumps of liquid foundation with one drop of facial oil and one drop of a strobe cream or liquid highlighter. If you want to amp up your glow further, you can add more of the illuminator. Those with oily skin can tone down the amount of highlighter used.
Once your custom blend is ready, massage the mix onto your face. This action will de-puff your skin, increase circulation and allow your base to go on smoothly. Keep layering on more of the mix until you are satisfied with the coverage. If required, you can apply concealer on any problem areas. Finally, finish off with a blush or bronzer and a light dusting of powder to set your look in place. Here’s a look at how you can massage the products in:
If you would like to get on this fad, here are some products that can help you out:
1. Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF 15
With its buildable coverage and natural-looking finish, this water-based foundation is ideal for such looks. The wide range of shades makes it easy to find a match, whilst the long-wearing formula ensures that your base stays in place for hours on end.
2. Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate
Packed with botanical oils like Ginger Root, Sunflower Oil and Tamanu Oil, this facial oil is a real multi-tasker. Not only does it brighten skin and nourish it, but also gives your face a dewy sheen.
3. CoverFX Custom Enhancer Drops
These concentrated drops allow you to decide the level of glow you desire. Whilst all the shades are gorgeous, I’m partial to ‘Candlelight’, which is a shimmery golden bronze.
Personally, I’m quite excited by this makeup trend. Most fads have a tendency to be complicated or over-the-top, but this one seems quite doable. Plus, my glowing skin may actually fool people into believing that I spent my morning at the gym rather than snoozing in bed!
