Tanushree Dutta began the #MeToo movement in India after she spoke about being sexually harassed by Nana Patekar on the sets of Horn Ok Pleasssss 10 years ago. After Tanushree’s interview, many women have finally come out and shamed their predators in public. Many Bollywood celebrities right from Kajol, Priyanka Chopra to Varun Dhawan have already applauded Tanushree for talking about the powerful men in the industry. Recently, Sonam Kapoor was present at the Vogue We The Women Summit in Bengaluru where the Veere Di Wedding actress too spoke about Tanushree’s courage. She also mentioned how she was disgusted when she read the heart-wrenching interview of the girl assaulted by Vikas Bahl. She revealed that when her father Anil Kapoor read the article he too was equally shocked and said whatever happened to these men after this, they deserved it. Barkha Dutt took to sharing a snippet of this video on her Twitter timeline.
Check out the video.
While saying that she was absolutely appalled with the stories that are coming out, she also said that she hopes that by speaking out she’s giving Tanushree a bit of strength to keep fighting her battle. She also said while it’s hard to take her seriously, she appreciated Kangana Ranaut for speaking out in support of the woman.
I am glad that there are more celebrities that are coming out and speaking about the issue.
