It’s true that kids grow up learning and picking up on life skills by observing their parents. But not all habits or manners are easy to pick up on. Some need to be inculcated in them from the start via their daily routine. Now, if you’re a new parent then it might be more tricky, as you’re completely new to this and that’s okay. So, we’ve noted down a few habits and manners that you must teach your kid at a tender age, so that he/she grows up to be a well-groomed and well-nurtured human being.
1. Health Is Wealth
As a parent, one of our biggest concerns is that our kids should eat healthily and rightly so. That’s why it is important to create awareness about the necessity of eating healthy and hydrating regularly. Also, including physical activity in their daily routine or some form of exercise that’ll lead to a fitter, healthier life.
2. Cleanliness Is Next To Godliness
This might sound very basic but it’s of utmost importance. Regular baths, washing hands before and after eating food, cutting their nails short, brushing teeth twice a day and keeping their ears clean are a few activities that make a whole lot of difference. Telling them why it is important is a small step towards making it a habit.
Lifebuoy has made this particular task easy for us with the #Lifebuoy10SecondRule challenge to promote how critical a simple habit like handwashing is and how just in these 10 seconds a quick hand wash with Lifebuoy can help prevent transmission of infections as it kills germs in just a few seconds. Keeping in sync with their commitment to ‘prevention is better than cure’, this challenge will ensure that the child will not fall ill often.
3. Sleep On Time
Remember the saying, ‘Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise’? It might be a cliche but it is a crucial habit that you need to inculcate in your children. A steady timetable that you can pace them in can be a really good way to go about it.
4. Teaching Them Quintessential Manners
Basics like good table manners, being courteous, being respectful, and say ‘thank you’ and ‘please’ whenever required are small things that help build a well-groomed human being.
5. Be Honest
It’s really important that your child learns the importance of being honest and truthful at an early stage. Nowadays kids are very observant and pick up on a lie easily. So, a balanced and open conversation with your children can get them used to be truthful in general.
6. Sharing Is Caring
Being grateful with the life they have and to share a part of their better living with others is a great virtue you can inculcate in them from the start.
7. Helping Others
This is another virtue a child learns from his/her parent. If children see their parents helping others in need, it would encourage them to do the same.
This list is a cohesive go-to for any new parent but not a conclusive one. But a good baseline like this one with your natural instinct will be great for your parenthood experience.
