The #MeToo movement has taken over the country by storm. Women have shown strength and have come forward to speak up against those who have abused their power and sexually harassed them. It all began with Tanushree Dutta going public with her harassment allegations against Nana Patekar. Ever since then, many strong women from the industry have come forward to share their #MeToo stories. The accused include Alok Nath, Subhash Ghai, Sajid Khan, Rajat Kapoor and Abhijeet Bhattacharya.
The conversation gained momentum when many artists from Bollywood like, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Varun Dhawan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor showed support to the courageous survivors who had faced these sexual predators. Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao also came out in support of the #MeToo movement and released a joint statement on the actor’s Twitter handle. The latest celebrity to join the list of stars taking a stand is Akshay Kumar. He took to Twitter to share his statement about stopping the shoot for Housefull 4.
