This past Sunday was no lazy one for Team MissMalini. We woke up bright and early and made our way to the MMRDA grounds to celebrate the first edition of Skechers Performance Mumbai Walkathon held on World Walking Day. Joining us was the serial Sunday-binger, Shilpa Shetty Kundra who was seen flagging off the 7K walk along with Rahul Bose. Apart from their work in films, these two celebrities are known for being at the top of their fitness game. Seeing them around, Mumbai’s walkers were even more motivated to achieve this grand task in front of them. Sanya was seen kicking off the 5k walk with just as much excitement and energy.
One thing we took back from the event was how this one simple form of exercise can aid in leading you to a healthier life. Walking is something everyone can do. You don’t need a gym membership, equipment or an instructor to take up this form of exercise. It comes so easy to us and can make a world of positive change to our bodies and minds. TBH, all you need is a comfortable pair of shoes. It’s one of the most important things to keep in mind before you set out on your walk and every walker at the Skechers Walkathon knew this to be true as their comfy sneakers made this walk so much easier.
But we’ve gotta say, this wasn’t like any other walkathon or marathon we’ve attended. Along with an energising Zumba workout before the walk, there were many other entertaining activities like musicians, dhol–walas, circus artists and more during the course of the 3k, 5k, and 7k walk.
Let’s just say that if you didn’t attend this event, you didn’t just miss out on a walkathon, you missed out on an entertainment-packed, energy-filled morning!
