A mere few days after Tanushree Dutta spoke out about her sexual harassment incident, Vikas Bahl was accused by a former Phantom employee of sexually assaulting her back in 2015. On Saturday, news of Phantom Films being dissolved had come out and the interweb was left wondering why. Shortly after we got an answer. In a heartwrenching interview with Huffington Post, the girl who was harassed detailed the entire scenario and everything that took place after. And the internet went up in arms, calling out men in positions of power for being inappropriate and being sexually explicit.
In the light of such allegations, reports in Mid-day suggest that Vikas Bahl has been dropped from a series he was supposed to direct for Amazon Prime.
Talking about the project, a source revealed,
The project is being produced by Monozygotic Solutions, which is owned by Raghu Ram and Rajiv Lakshman of Roadies fame. The show was a reboot of an Australian series that revolves around couples spicing up their sex lives. It was scheduled to roll by year-end. But with the latest controversy, Amazon wouldn’t be comfortable backing it with Vikas on board. The production house has discussed the matter with Amazon, and will soon start scouting for another director.
Other than this, under such circumstances, his next movie Super 30 has also been affected who he has co-produced.
Talking about the next steps, an insider said,
The post-production has to be done under his supervision because it would be impractical to bring someone new on board at this stage. But after that, Vikas will be asked to dissociate himself from the film.
While we don’t know what will become of these allegations, we hope the perpetrators are punished.
