Varun Dhawan is currently busy promoting his upcoming film Sui Dhaaga. The film which also stars Anushka Sharma is directed by Sharat Katariya and it hits the screens on the 28th of September. The actor was promoting the film recently on film critic Anupama Chopra’s show on which the actor spoke about why it is important to give female actors their dues and why they need to be taken seriously as the male actors.
Varun and Alia Bhatt who made their Bollywood debut together with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year have been giving the masses a number of great films. The actors have a serious of hits in their kitty and in the interview, Varun spoke about how the films he has done with Alia, equally belonged to her and how even she was responsible for its hit.
Varun said,
Why has it taken the trade and the industry as a whole until a Raazi to realize that Alia Bhatt is a big star. Be it Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, and even 2 States were all hits and Alia Bhatt was just a responsible for its success as I was or Arjun was (Arjun Kapoor was the lead in 2 States).
The October actor also revealed that there have been times where he has spoken to Alia and counseled her to raise her fees.
I would always tell Alia, what are you doing? You take very little money. Are you stupid? Increase your price.
We completely agree with what Varun and said and it is high time Bollywood takes notes of the contribution female actors have.
